   The republic of Karelia is situated in the West of Northern Russia. Karelian nature is full of small rivers with big number of rapids, sudden turnings and thousands of small and large lakes full of fish. Large part of its territory is covered by wild virgin forest, taiga.

   Also, these tourist programmes will allow You to enjoy the beautiful nature of Karelia with its blue lakes and quick rivers everywhere, stones and rocks, magnificent forests.    Winters in Karelia are usually not extremely cold, but the temperature may reach minus 10 degrees by Celsius (plus 14 degrees by Fahrenheit). Thaws happen rather often. Great frosts sometimes happen, also. They do usually in January or February.

Note, that only enough physically trained persons can take part in action tours with minimum of risk for their health and life. Please, do not take part in any kind of them, if You are not enough trained for it.
Participant(s) are usually guided by an instructor. But, in spite of this fact, it is strongly recommended not to take part in activities which seem to You dangerous, unpredictable and have got other features of that kind.
As for all winter tours in Karelia, please, always remember the following. Be careful not to catch cold, not to be frozen, not to get a frostbite. Note, that the weather in this part of Northern Russia often changes very rapidly, it can become colder very quickly - up to a dozen and a half degrees by Celsius (about three dozen degrees by Fahrenheit) per one day and even more. Beside this, the air is damp here and this circumstance intensifies the effect of frost.
Sometimes, it is really cold during summer, also. The temperature may fall to less than plus ten degrees by Celsius (plus fifty degrees by Fahrenheit) in the afternoon.
