Period:	Approximately all winter long, from December till March (including these months). The possibility of realization of the snowmobile tours and dates depend on the weather in Karelia and the regions where these tours are held (quantity of snow and temperature).

Places and Routes for Snowmobile Riding

   The territory of Karelia is covered by taiga (coniferous forest) and the soil is often rocky. But, there are about 61 thousand lakes on the small territory of Karelia. The areas of Onego and Ladoga (the two largest ones of Europe) are more than 10 thousand square kilometres.
   All these waters are covered with thick ice and snow layer in winter. The middles of Ladoga and Onego are often not covered with ice, if the frost is weak and the wind is strong.
   These vast snow spaces were used long before the appearance of snowmobiles. Local people used them as roads and crossed them on skies, on sledge with a horse, and then by automobiles.
   Of course, these great ice and snow fields are almost an ideal place for snowmobile riding.
