Perhaps, the most strange and enigmatic constructions
created by ancient people on the territory of Karelia are mazes of the White Sea. They
are made of stone. It is unknown who and when built these mazes. What they were
built for is one more question for scientists.
Why did the ancients who lived on this shore of the White Sea
need to build something like a maze? A maze with low walls and narrow tracks
between the walls - their width is 10 - 12 cm. The attention of scientists was attracted by facts
which say that all these mazes are located near the places rich of fish. It was
supposed that the enigmatic mazes were connected with fishing. There are different
guessworks about this question.
