   Great number of lakes, rivers and stones make Karelian landscape unforgettable and unique. There is no land with such number of lakes and rivers on a unit of territory, in the whole world, except Karelia.
   The whole number of rivers in Karelia is more than 23 thousands. Suna, Vyg, Kem and some others are the biggest of them. Karelian rivers are often full of rapids and have got a lot of waterfalls. The biggest of waterfalls belongs to Suna river and it is called Kivach. This waterfall is situated in the territory of a national park, which is called Kivach, also.

   Some names of Karelian rivers come from finnish or karelian languages. Sometimes, these names end with "joki". This word is translated from finnish as "river", "stream".
