Half a kilometre from the shore of Onego Lake
and Petrozavodsk's embankment Kirov Square is situated. This square is
one of the oldest squares of the city. It has an extraodinary history.
Nowadays, the square is used for all kinds of meetings, festivals, etc
of all citizens of Petrozavodsk. Four theatres stand on this square:
Musical and Russian Drama theatres and National and Doll theatres
(first two of them are located together in one building and last two
of them are located in one building, also). Some cafes, museums and
big National Public Library of Republic of Karelia are situated near
Kirov Square.
