The snow tracks of the area of Svyatozero lake will lead you to the Vazheozersky monastery, nice villages and small chapels, and will meet you with the keeper of the traditions of the old Karelian centuries – Kinerma village. The modern and easy to use snowmobiles, prepared tracks and educated guides will allow you to get as close as possible to the places which we used to call the Heart of Karelia. (valid for winter season 2007-2008) Day 1 Meeting of the guests in Petrozavodsk city Transfer to the start point of the tour, the tourist centre near Lososinnoye lake (20 kilometres) Breakfast Getting the equipment. Sauna. Supper The guest-house is situated in Manga village, on the river bank. The village has preserved the typical look of a northern karelian settlement. Big two-storeyed karelian houses, built in the end of the XIX-th – beginning of the XX-th centuries form the line along the street. In the second half of the XVIII-th century, the chapel of Our Lady’s Birth was built in Manga and the building has been saved till nowadays. Day 2 Breakfast Beginning of the snowmobile tour along the route: Manga village – Vazheozersky monastery – Kinerma village (110 kilometres) Vazheozersky monastery is considered to be found in 1520 year, for in this year a monk called Nikifor has left his mentor, Alexander of Svir and founded Zadne-Nikiforovsky Vazheozersky pustany, here. Kinerma village is a unique monument of the national wooden architectural art of Russian Karelia of the XIX-th century. It includes the country chapel of the Smolensk Icon of Our Lady, built in the second half of the XVIII century and surrounded by an old cultic spruce grove, peasant houses and Russian saunas of the XIX-th century.
