The style of almost all stone images can be determined
as naturalist scheme. The images reflect the most important
attributes and features of a "drawn" subject, only.
As a rule, petroglyphs are not very big, 10-50 cm,
but there are even three-metre high giants. However, the number of
such images is small. All of the images are two-dimensional and
profile. Forest animals usually have two legs only - front one and
back one. Sea animals are shown from above. People are "drawn" from left or
right side, usually, with one leg and one arm.
The major part of figures is recognizable - birds,
animals, boats, humanlike images. It is often possible to recognize moose,
reindeer, otter, beaver, sterlet, swan, goose, etc. Some geometric
figures, such as circles, ovals, lines and bars are present, also.
Sometimes, figures are connected by a line, or "touch"
each other, thus making scenes and compositions. The meaning of them is
hardly guessed. Both petroglyphs of the White Sea and petroglyphs of Onego
Lake are a bright example of mythological vision of the world.
